For Brice Huxon, the path to collegiate water polo was defined by a single, pivotal moment of connection. Like many high school athletes, Brice had the drive to play at the next level but needed a platform to bridge the gap between training and recruitment.

By participating in the 6-8 Bay Area Showcase and intensive camps at the Los Cab Sports Village, Brice did not just improve his physical skills. He gained the recruitment IQ necessary to navigate the complex world of college sports. It was at a 6-8 camp that Brice met Coach Bega for the first time, sparking the journey that would eventually lead him to the roster at UC Merced.

I think the showcase helped me find my place as a player and gave me the skills and confidence as well as help with other aspects of the recruitment process, such as emails and contacting coaches. The feedback I got from coaches was overwhelmingly positive and supportive and I only wish I had attended more showcases!

At the Bay Area Showcase, Brice was able to put his skills to the test in front of a concentrated group of college scouts, receiving real-time feedback that boosted his confidence in the pool. Beyond the water, the program provided him with the tools to master the off the field game by learning how to professionally contact coaches and manage his own recruitment trail.

Through the 6-8 platform, Brice’s performance was no longer just a memory for the coaches in attendance. It was a permanent digital record. By logging his metrics and showcase results on the 6-8 Mobile App, he created a verifiable resume that he could share during his outreach to programs. This data-backed confidence allowed him to approach the recruitment process with a clear understanding of his strengths and his place in the collegiate landscape.

Achieving The Dream

Now a member of the UC Merced men’s water polo team, Brice reflects on the opportunities provided by the circuit:

I only wish I had attended more showcases! The support was amazing, and it truly gave me the confidence to pursue my goals at the collegiate level.
