Athlete Story
Kaleigh Murphy
As an aspiring collegiate athlete from Greenwich, Connecticut, Kaleigh Murphy faced the challenge of gaining national exposure from outside the traditional water polo hotbeds like California and Florida.
Although she had been training and competing in the sport since age eight, earning recognition at both the high school and club levels, her opportunities to be seen by high-level college coaches were limited in the Northeast. When Kaleigh discovered 6-8 Sports, she immediately saw a path to elevate her visibility and connect with coaches at top collegiate programs ultimately making her dream of playing Division I water polo at UC San Diego a reality.
6-8 has been a huge part of my water polo career and development over the past years. I have attended the academy, camps, several showcases as well as international tournaments, and each time came away a better player. I’ve made so many amazing friends and connections through 6-8 which has made the experiences even more valuable.

Data-Driven Development
In partnership with the 6-8 training programs, Kaleigh found immense value in the 6-8 Sports analytics platform. At the 6-8 Final Showcase, she ranked No. 7 in points out of 40 players. During the 6-8 Miami Showcase, she finished in the top five in points scored. Her performance metrics were recorded and interpreted for her personal profile.
Through the 6-8 Mobile app, Kaleigh could instantly review her strengths, areas for development, and overall athleticism scores. At the same time, college coaches were able to follow her progress via the 6-8 Dashboard, giving recruiters deeper insights into her development as a Utility/Driver.
Achieving The Dream
Now a committed student-athlete on the UC San Diego Women’s Water Polo Team, Kaleigh reflects on how 6-8 helped her reach her goals:
I’m so grateful for the experiences and opportunities with 6-8. The training, analytics, and exposure helped me compete at the highest level and ultimately helped me achieve my college water polo dream at UC San Diego!
Kaleigh’s journey demonstrates how 6-8 Sports can bridge the geographic gap for talented athletes outside traditional water polo regions, providing the exposure, training, and analytics needed to connect with top collegiate programs.
